I hate "the nerves" when traveling, especially if I'm wondering whether we will make our connecting flight.

I'd much rather spend my time driving or sometimes riding in a car.

One time though, before the internet could tell you everything, we were driving back from Florida and about 15 or 20 miles from downtown Atlanta we hit a slowdown and then we stopped.

We crawled for the next hour and saw an exit and just took it. It was deserted but we followed a line of cars east for a long way and got to a little town where we made a quick decision to stay in a motel. It was the afternoon, so we just decided to stop for the night.

It turned out to be an okay decision, but it had all the makings of being a disaster.

After that trip, we made/make an effort to avoid large cities especially during rush hours, even if it costs hours to go a different route, we rather spend the extra time driving, than waiting. Of course going East, it's hard to avoid big cities:)

Congratulations on your Engagement ❤️

There really is no perfect way to travel long-distance!! I also prefer driving to flying, but I’ve been in similar situations to your metro Atlanta experience that I’ve disliked as much as a flight delay.

Most recently Ryan and I got stuck in Chicago traffic for an hour when going to Michigan even though we asked the GPS to take us around the city … UGH.

My family used to do these monster-long road trips from Michigan to Delaware when I was a kid. It was a 10-12 hour drive, and I remember most of them erring on the side of 12 hours because we’d often get stuck in traffic on the PA turnpike. It was terrible, but so was the time we took a plane to Delaware and got stuck on the tarmac for two hours due to a maintenance issue.

You just can’t win!!
