Man, I don’t know about you all, but this summer heat is really getting to me. This past weekend it got into the high 80s, which I know sounds like child’s play to my readers in hotter parts of the U.S. But many of us Midwesterners are not built for the heat, especially because it tends to get suffocatingly humid in these parts.
I find it funny that I have no problem dealing with sub-zero temperatures in the winter, but once it gets above 75 degrees in the summer, I am just done. I’m an absolute baby in hot weather, I admit it. The heat totally zaps my energy and I feel like doing nothing but laying in bed all day (as was the case on Monday). Ryan got me to go to the gym with him and walk on the treadmill for like 45 minutes though, which I’m thankful for.
Anyway, I bring this up to tell you all that I kind of hit a wall with writing this week. I had such an awesome time teaching my first writing class in a long time at WordHaven Bookhouse on Saturday, and I hoped that momentum would keep me going to do some writing over the weekend. We even did a fun brainstorming activity and I left class with a few new ideas for essays I wanna write!
But after an excessively hot day at the beach on Sunday, a really sweaty speed-walk in the evening, and then more miserably hot weather on Monday, I just haven’t felt like doing anything. I’m sure there are other factors at play in regards to my lethargy (such as the fact that I am coming off of a really busy three-month spell in freelance world and had a lot of tummy troubles and insomnia this week). But what I’m feeling is that my body and mind both need a break.
The annoying thing is that I have a lot of ideas in the works, and I’m really excited to share them with you. But for now, those will have to wait until I am less tired.
For now, stay cool and I will see you soon!
Oh, and if you want to come to my virtual essay-writing class at the end of the month, read this post for more details and sign up here.
