If you read last week’s newsletter to the very end, you’ll have seen that I’m gonna start publishing on Tuesdays from here on out. I’m sure many of you didn’t read to the end (which like, I get it — I often don’t, either), so consider this the official announcement.
Why the change? Well, after Ryan went back to work full time, I decided to change my schedule, too. He works on Saturdays, so now I work on Saturdays. And he doesn’t work Sundays or Mondays, so neither do I.
I’m still figuring out how to enjoy this slightly odd schedule as a freelancer. Right now it’s Monday and I’m writing my newsletter but refusing to check my email or think about real (paid) work because it’s technically still the weekend in my world.
I feel like this guy:
Honestly, it’s important to set those boundaries because otherwise I’d probably work seven days a week. And I’ve already been through a few seasons of life where I’ve done exactly that and burnt out very quickly.
Anyway, it’s only the third week of this new schedule, so we’ll see how things go. I also couldn’t think of anything to write about this week, so that’s why this newsletter is so short.
In lieu of a proper essay, here’s an incomplete list of some of the things I did these past two weeks:
Made tomato soup and squash soup (on separate days!!! It’s a deceptive amount of work)
Learned how to properly caramelize onions
Wrote some stories for money
Ran a virtual 5K
Ate at a bunch of restaurants
Hung out with a friend and watched a documentary about Nickelodeon (but mostly talked through it lol)
Went to a gallery night in town and got to see some cool art
Bought a print for our living room
Sold some things on Poshmark
Starting reading a few books
Finished reading a book (yay! Go me! I finished something!)
Made a very long birthday wishlist
RSVP’d to a wedding
Volunteered at our grocery co-op
Called my sisters
Harvested some parsley from my porch garden
Cleaned off the living room table which was full of junk for months
If you’re bored, comment on this post, send me a text, or reply to this newsletter and tell me something mildly fun or notable that you’ve done lately. I can’t promise I’ll respond right away but I love to know when people are reading to the end of my newsletter and also it’s just entertaining to hear from y’all.
Be back next Tuesday!
