Fall is my favorite season, hands down. I’m biased because November is my birthday month, but I still believe this time of year is objectively great. Hot cider, big sweaters, leaves falling off trees — it’s a beautiful season. One last hurrah until winter.
Speaking of the seasons changing, maybe you’re ready for a change in your writing routine? I find that my habits start to shift with the weather, and I’m sure I’m not the only one. That’s why I’m teaching a new class at WordHaven this month all about building a sustainable writing practice that will carry you through the rest of the year (and beyond).
Let’s be honest: writing consistently can be hard. Life happens, and our creative projects fall to the wayside. Writer’s block is all too common, and it can be a struggle to motivate ourselves to work on projects when we feel tired or strapped for time. And sometimes we need a little extra push to feel like our creative pursuits are worth the effort.
Whatever you’re struggling with, there are many tools you can use to overcome these barriers and build a writing practice that works for you. We’ll talk about all kinds of strategies for getting back into a regular flow — from mindset shifting to organizational tools to setting realistic goals.
My main goal here is to present a toolbox of strategies you can mix and match depending on your needs. No two writers are the same, which means that no two writing practices will be the same. So think of this class as a springboard you can use to leap into a new practice that is mentally and creatively fulfilling.
We’ll also have time for discussion. Bring your questions and struggles regarding writing routines so we can help each other out!
As usual, we’ll have an in-person class and a virtual class for this session. Here are the details:
In-person at WordHaven Bookhouse on October 26 at 1pm Central (sign up here)
Virtual from anywhere on November 2 at 1pm Central (sign up here)
Hope to see you there! And feel free to reply to this email if you have any questions.
Is the October 6 date, correct?
